tell us a bit about you and where you are from?
Born in october 1981, I live in the suburbs of Paris. I’ve never moved far from this city.
How and when did you get interested in photography?
I don’t know, I bought my first digital camera in 2004 on a whim. Maybe at the time I wanted to create something with my hand
what are two of your favorite photos that you have taken?
At the right place at the right moment (I was lucky):
One picture taken with my old compact camera:
Which photographer’s works do you like?
I like the documentary work on industrial patrimonial of a Vincent Duseigne. I like also the work of Michael Kenna, Martin Parr , Raymond Depardon and many others!
your favorite photobloggers that you follow?
what kind of equipment do you use?
I began with a digital compact camera and now I’m using a Pentax K10D (with sigma 10-20, Pentax 35 mm F2, Pentax 50mn F1.4) and a Ricoh grd3 (28 mm F1.9). I think I’ve got a good equipment so it’s more easy for me to tell that the best camera is the one you have, but it’s my motto anyway !
o you have any formal training?
No formal photography training. Only practice and photo books reading...
do you use software to touch up photos? what do you use?
Yes, I use Lightroom. I use also photomatix for HDR photos and autopano for panorama
In my opinion, the post-treatment is inseparable of the photographic process but it doesn't replace the work during the shooting
What kind of pictures do you love to take?
I love street photography but it’s difficult for me, I don’t want to take people with a tele-zoom lens but I'm usually scared of the people reaction … I try to treat myself :-)
I love also take photo of abandoned place or natural landscape. I think my work is eclectic.
what inspires you?
All that is new to me but also clean, symmetric and geometric places in one way; trash, destroy and abandoned place in other way
where do you want to take your photography? publishing a book?
I’m thinking about it…
what else would you like to tell us?
I wish say more but writing in English is difficult for me... picture speaks louder than words so check out my site (http://www.sylvainmary.net)
